Take control of your appearance with Juvederm® Voluma™. Designed to treat midface volume loss and to improve the contour of the cheeks and chin, Juvederm Voluma offers immediate results with little to no downtime. During your consultation, Dr. Renata Khelemsky will assess your facial aesthetics to customize a treatment plan that meets your personal needs.
Juvederm is a collection of injectable fillers made with hyaluronic acid (HA)—a naturally occurring substance in your skin that retains moisture and gives your skin that plump and supple look. Chemically, HA is composed of complex sugars that are woven together. Juvederm fillers contain a synthetic form of HA. This gel-like substance instantly smooths fine lines and wrinkles, restores volume loss, and enhances facial contours through its plumping action. Juvederm Voluma is one of the several types of products available from Juvederm.
Juvederm Voluma is specifically designed to amplify the cheeks and chin by adding contour and definition. Patients can modify just how much “plump” and “contour” to add to their cheeks, midface, and chin. A skilled injector may also use Voluma in other facial areas for rejuvenation, such as the jawline or temples. What makes Voluma unique is its longevity: Voluma is designed to last around 24 months, compared to other fillers that typically last 6 to 12 months. Voluma is also known for its thicker and more viscous nature, making it a front runner in its ability to lift and contour, with less post-injection swelling, compared to other filler subtypes.
The best candidates for Juvederm Voluma are patients with volume loss, flattened cheekbones, and a recessive chin or weakened jawline. Voluma instantly adds volume and lifts the skin to create a contour, definition, and a more sculpted and youthful facial silhouette. All Juvederm products are reversible too. In the event that you are not fully satisfied with your results, Juvederm products such as Voluma may be partially refined or even fully dissolved with an injectable medication known as hyaluronidase. During your consultation for Juvederm Voluma Brooklyn Master Injector, Dr. Khelemsky, will assess your facial aesthetics and discuss your dermal filler options.
Juvederm Voluma offers the following benefits:
Juvederm Voluma provider, Dr. Khelemsky, will provide pre-treatment instructions to prepare you and make your session an optimal experience. You will be advised to refrain from medications that cause bleeding, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and other herbal supplements. If you are taking prescription blood thinners, consult with your primary care physician to learn if you may hold your medication for a cosmetic service. In addition, you will be advised to avoid alcohol and tobacco products before and after your treatment as they may cause further bruising and interfere with blood flow.
Before your treatment of Juvederm Voluma patients will have their faces cleansed, and Dr. Renata Khelemsky will begin the injections with the use of a micro-cannula. The filler contains lidocaine that will numb the area as it is injected to keep you comfortable. The micro-cannula is a thin, wand-like device with a blunt and flexible tip, making it less likely to pierce a blood vessel and cause bruising when the filler is injected. To insert the micro-cannula, a small needle will be used to create a small opening in the skin at one or several locations.
With a micro-cannula, the overall number of needle sticks is greatly diminished. After your filler treatment is complete, you will immediately see the results. There may be some swelling and possibly some bruising from the sporadic use of needles. However, these are greatly lessened when compared to traditional needle-only techniques. You may be advised to massage the treated areas following treatment. You will be able to return to your daily activities immediately after your session. Your entire treatment takes about 30 minutes, depending on the number of areas being treated.
It is advised for Juvederm Voluma patients to avoid strenuous exercise for 48 because and direct sun exposure in the first week, to lessen swelling, irritation, and increased bruising. Many patients see the fullness in their cheeks and smoother contours immediately. While Voluma is a temporary treatment, it does offer up to two years of longevity. Periodic visits may be needed for maintenance, and Dr. Khelemsky will discuss how many visits are required to achieve your long-term aesthetic goals during your consultation.

The longevity of any dermal filler depends on how much filler you receive and how your body metabolizes the hyaluronic acid. Typically, Juvederm fillers last six months to two years. However, Voluma is specifically formulated to last upwards of two years. Dr. Khelemsky may recommend maintenance visits for optimal results.
Juvederm products are made with hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance naturally found in your body. HA fillers have a long track record of safety and satisfaction. Some side effects include swelling, local tenderness, and bruising, but these symptoms should subside within 24 to 48 hours. Allergy to HA filler is extremely rare, although it is treatable.
Dr. Khelemsky determines how much filler is needed to achieve your desired effect and ideal results. Each treatment varies with each patient. During your consultation, Dr. Khelemsky will assess your skin concerns and discuss the price of your procedure.
