This process repeats until the desired amount of filler is injected, which is typically one to two syringes.
Lip filler treatments have little to no downtime. Often the only downtime is waiting for the swelling and possibly bruising to subside. However, lip filler patients can return to their usual daily activities immediately after treatment. After several hours, make-up may be applied to the treated areas to lessen any redness or bruising that may appear. Dr. Khelemsky also recommends gentle massage of any early lumps or bumps, as well as avoiding extreme heat, excess salt, or direct sun exposure following filler treatments for up to one week.

Dr. Khelemsky specializes in providing an exceptionally comfortable experience during your lip filler session. One option is to use topical numbing cream for approximately 30 to 45 minutes before treatment. Another option is to use a gentle injection technique, like the one preferred by Dr. Khelemsky using a fine-tipped cannula. With a cannula, needle sticks are minimized, and the fillers are evenly and gently applied across the lips.
Lip fillers also contain lidocaine, which provides instant numbing to the lips at the beginning of the treatment, greatly increasing comfort throughout the session. Any lip soreness after treatment subsides within a day or two.
Lip flip and dermal filler treatments are safe and effective with minimal risks. However, some side effects may include soreness, temporary swelling, light bruising, and asymmetry that may be corrected in a touch-up session.
